The Air Max 180 is a collaboration from 1991 between Tinker Hatfield (the designer of the Air Max 1) and Bruce Kilgore (the designer of the Air Force 1). Together they created the Air Max 180 and launched it into the world.

By that time the Air Max 180 wasn’t that big of a hit. Although celebrities like Michael Jordan decided to wear the Nike silhouette, people still weren’t convinced to wear the sneaker designed by Nike.

It was around 2004 when the Air Max 180 sneaker made a comeback when Kanye West received his custom-made sneakers. Eminem created his own version of the Air Max 180 aswell.

With big names like Kanye and Eminem, the sneaker should be on high demand, but things just didn’t work out that way. It is only around 2018, when the ‘dad sneaker’ trend is in full effect, the Air Max 180 is big player in the sneaker scene. Comme des Garçons created their own Air Max 180, which added a lot of popularity to the silhouette.

Fun fact: The Air Max 270 is the love baby of the Air Max 93 & 180!
